Faculty of Computing Workshop at the 18th InfoCom World
Metropolitan College sponsored the 18th InfoCom World Congress entitled ‘Digital Economy: The Highway of NGN!’, which took place at the Divani Caravel Hotel on 2 November 2015.
During the conference, the Faculty of Computing delivered a workshop on ‘Opportunities and limitations in the digital economy as a result of the regulatory framework of information security’. Dr Evangelia Vagena, DN, DEA, Attorney and Professor of the School of Computer Science of Metropolitan College was the main presenter.
The workshop focused on Information Technology & Internet Law, a module taught within the postgraduate programme ‘MSc Information Security and Computer Forensics’, which is offered by Metropolitan College in collaboration with the University of East London. The main areas presented were the existing and new regulations pertaining information security, with emphasis on the protection of personal data, the lawful provision of online services via Internet as well as cybersecurity and cybercrime. The workshop was addressed to all the stakeholders in the digital economy who want to be made aware of their obligations and rights and safeguard their credibility in the digital communications environment and trade.
