Historic distinction of Metropolitan College by the World Federation
of Occupational Therapists

wfot news engThe School of Health of Metropolitan College is proud to announce the official certification of the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). The curriculum is offered by Metropolitan College at Maroussi, Piraeus and Thessaloniki campuses, in collaboration with the distinguished British University of Queen Margaret.

This distinction - which is of particular importance to the College students and graduates - was followed by a comprehensive evaluation of the programme by the World Federation from January 2017 to the present. In particular, the following were evaluated: learning objectives and content of the programme, educational methods, educational facilities (workshops, etc.), academic staff, quality assurance and internships.

Metropolitan College is the only College officially certified by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, which proves the excellent academic level of the programme, while it is the highest recognition in the scientific community of Occupational Therapists. At the same time, it disseminates the message of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists for the World Occupational Day on 27/10/17: To Inform, Inspire and Act as an Educational Organization for the recognition of the efficacy of Occupational Therapy among humans and within the community.

Linda Renton (MSc, BSc (Hons), HCPC, Dip COT), Senior Lecturer and Academic Link at Queen Margaret University, stated: "The Department of Occupational Therapy within the Health School at Queen Margaret University is very pleased with the recent news received by Metropolitan College about the certification of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. This is the result of a very rigorous procedure that ensures that the curriculum meets all the required standards of training in the discipline of occupational therapy. It is an outstanding achievement of the College, which reflects the dedication and experience of the academic team as well as the commitment of professional occupational therapists who contribute to the necessary clinical practice of students during their studies. The BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme is offered at the three campuses of Metropolitan College in Maroussi, Piraeus and Thessaloniki and the first graduates have already entered the labour market. We congratulate Metropolitan College on this great achievement! "

Please note that Metropolitan College has been a full member of the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education (ENOTE) since 2014. This is the only educational institution in Greece that is a member of the Organization. The College, having common visions with other European Institutions, as a full member, is actively involved in the activities of the European Network for Occupational Therapy, followed by the official conference of UNOTO in 2019, which will take place in Athens.
