Metropolitan College successfully organized the 1st International Rehabilitation Conference. Hosting more than 100 prominent international speakers and over 400 delegates from Greece and abroad, the 1st International Interdisciplinary Conference on Rehabilitation has fulfilled the goal of being an interdisciplinary platform for discussion and exchanging ideas on recent innovations, trends and clinical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the field of Rehabilitation. The three full day Conference took place at the state-of-the-art facilities of Maroussi Campus.
Dr Eirini Manara, Head of Faculty of Health Sciences, Metropolitan College and Mr Dimitris Diamantis, Director General, Metropolitan College opened the conference.
"I am really moved to be opening this conference today because it has taken many years for this idea to mature and materialize. It has taken the gradual expansion of the School of Health Sciences, which counts today 11 Programmes of study, in collaboration with 3 distinguished Universities, thousands of students and hundreds of academics on 7 campuses across Greece, more than 200 contracted clinical placements. The great response to this conference has far exceeded our expectations and this, of course means one thing, that rehabilitation is a topic the scientific community cares deeply about", as stated by Dr. Eirini Manara. Following her speech, Mr Dimitris Diamantis addressed the delegates, highlighting the importance of inter-professional education: "The inter-disciplinary approach is in the heart of almost all participants and delegates of the Rehab Conference. In fact, Metropolitan College is the only Greek institution which offers its students a real inter-professional education experience, as the vast majority of the allied-health programmes have one module in common: the IPE module. I trust this conference will justify to all of us the need for further enhancing this approach and the value of instilling it to all health practitioners and clinicians with a view to improve the lives of their patients".
