Metropolitan College participated in the 2nd Partners’ Meeting of the Eldicare Erasmus+ project that was held on the 10th & 11th April 2019 in Malaga, Spain, hosted by the University of Malaga (www.uma.es). Metropolitan College was represented by its Project Manager, Mrs Eleni Damianou.

Eldicare is a “Sector Skills Alliance” funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme – it brings together 12 partners from 5 Countries i.e. Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, UK.

Eldicare Project aims to offer a professional pathway for atypical elderly care givers, through education and training in ICT & health applications, modernizing the way elderly care is provided by designing two fresh market-driven Curricula responding to the needs of this special demographic group.

During the meeting, AKMI S.A. as the Project Coordinator, and the partners had the opportunity to present the current state of play of the Project (project overall assessment), with special focus given on the current situation analysis of the elderly care sector as well as the mapping of the current needs and skills gaps the sector is currently facing. The project's main objective is to address them during the upcoming implementation period with the design of the two VET Curricula and the psychometric tool for the caregivers.

Other issues that have been discussed included the Quality Assurance procedures with regard to the VET Curricula that are aimed to be designed as well as the dissemination and communication strategy within the next months and how to engage more stakeholders in the project.
