The MSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems was designed according to the standards set by the UK Engineering Council in the Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) and leads to the acquisition of professional qualifications in dynamically changing aspects of Electrical Engineering.

During their studies, students will focus on advanced topics of the science of electrical engineering and will expand their knowledge in the field as well as in the design and implementation of modern systems. A range of assessment methods (written examinations, attending lectures and laboratory seminars based on performing written essays) encourage deeper understanding and enable the development of the skills necessary for successful professional employment.

As part of the course, each student will complete a four-month individual project (thesis), where they will apply their knowledge to carry out a research-based and in-depth analysis and design of their topic of choice. The project will be tailored to the individual interests of students and can be performed in the proprietary Engineering Laboratories of the Metropolitan College or, following a relevant agreement, in an industrial setting.

Career Prospects

The postgraduate course in Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems is the natural continuation of British undergraduate Electrical Engineering courses and the respective courses of Greek Technological Educational Institutes, since its successful completion also marks the completion of the study cycle required for being granted professional rights in the sector. Electrical Engineers deal with various aspects of technology and are responsible for designing, developing, testing as well as supervising the production of equipment and machinery.

The course’s graduates can seek employment in several industries and projects, such as:

  • Power and control systems for Aircraft and Automotive vehicles;
  • Alternative energy sources;
  • Electricity Distribution Networks.
