The BA (Hons) Early Childhood Special Education programme at Metropolitan College is designed to educate and develop highly qualified professionals in the field of special education. The programme equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to support the inclusion and education of children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The curriculum combines theory and practice, providing students with a deep understanding of special education principles, pedagogical methods, and policies aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and overall well-being. Emphasis is placed on fostering critical thinking, research skills, and social sensitivity, while practical training in collaboration with partner institutions offers valuable professional experience.

Students receive comprehensive academic training to facilitate the smooth integration of children with diverse abilities into society and ensure their well-rounded education. Throughout their studies, they engage with their future profession through lectures and seminars led by experienced special education professionals, as well as opportunities for internships and voluntary work within a wide network of partner institutions, schools, and special education organizations.

 

Graduates are fully equipped to teach and support all preschool-aged children, with or without special educational needs, contributing to the creation of inclusive and supportive learning environments.

The Department of Early Childhood Special Education, BA (Hons) Early Childhood Special Education, offers the necessary qualifications to those who wish to engage professionally in the field of Special Education. Graduates of this programme are able to pursue careers as:

  • Preschool teachers/kindergarten teachers in private and public special schools
  • Specialists in Centers for Assessment and Rehabilitation of Learning Disabilities (Private and Public)
  • Principals of private and public special schools
  • Education executives/preschool educators in different educational settings

In addition, they can continue their studies in postgraduate programmes in Greece and abroad.

Admission Requirements 

This programme is addressed to graduates of secondary education who wish to engage professionally with preschool children with special needs.

Required documentation:

  • Copy of High School Certificate, issued by vocational Lyceums (such as TEE or EPAL), and foreign certificates which are equivalent to the Greek Lyceum certificate (e.g. International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, etc.), with a grade above 12.
  • Letters of Recommendation

  • MC Application Form

A personal interview complements the evaluation of the above documentation.
