LLB (Hons) Bachelor of Laws at Metropolitan College is offered in collaboration with the prestigious Oxford Brookes University (OBU International Programmes); it is one of the most modern academic courses in the discipline of Law. By applying theory in practice, it provides law students with skills that will prepare them for their future academic or legal career.
LLB (Hons) Bachelor of Laws aims at developing fundamental skills for the legal profession, such as legal synthetic thinking, communication skills and management of legal projects. Modules such as “Law Methodology” and “Communication Skills for Lawyers” meet the above criteria. A strong advantage of the curriculum is that it relies more on interactive, participatory and practical teaching, so that students really get to know the Law, not just through the text, but through a better understanding of its deeper aspects. To this end, the curriculum offers realistic experience to students, so they can comprehend the complexity of legal issues and come into contact with the reality of the legal profession, in the Greek and international business environment. Therefore, students are encouraged to take part in mock trials, prepare legal documents and applications, come into contact with Greek Law and the everyday life of a lawyer, etc.
During their studies, students are trained in English, European, International and Greek Law. Regarding Greek Law in particular, students study it through reports and comparative study with the law they study in each module. Their dissertation allows them to further delve into a sector of Greek Law.
For developing research skills and preparing essays, students have access to a plethora of educational resources, such as the Online Library and the Online Teaching Environment. In addition, through the curriculum of the LLB in Law at Metropolitan College, students obtain several analytical techniques and skills for problem resolution; furthermore, special emphasis is given to their familiarisation with the development of sound arguments.
Designed to meet the requirements of the Bar Standards Board, with regard to the academic education of candidates, LLB (Hons) Bachelor of Laws offers modern and up-to-date knowledge. The literature and curriculum are constantly updated and revised, so that students come into contact with modern legal theories and analyses of the legislation and case law. Thus, it is ensured that they develop the necessary skills in approaching legal issues.
With the goal being independent knowledge, the programme pushes students towards developing the necessary abilities that will allow them to manage learning needs in conjunction with their obligations towards their studies. Finally, students intending to follow a career abroad, may take the programme in English.

*For practising law in Greece, it is necessary for the national authorities to recognise the professional qualifications; it is also mandatory to complete the training period and to succeed in the relevant bar exam for obtaining a license to practice Law.
