INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

The Metropolitan College is a member of a number of international and Greek organisations and bodies, and possesses relevant certifications.

More than 30 international scientific and professional organisations and bodies entrust the Metropolitan College, thus enhancing its core vision: to offer the highest level of studies possible in all scientific fields, as its students deserve.

COMPOSTELLA GROUP OF UNIVERSITIES

The Metropolitan College is the only College in Greece that became a member of an International University Network (Compostella Group of Universities), being once again a pioneer in higher education. The Compostella Group of Universities is a non-profit international association aiming to promote collaboration and dialogue in all fields related to higher education. The network currently consists of 73 university institutions-members, from 30 different countries, which collaborate with the conviction that diversity is the key word in the profiles of 21st century Universities.

BRITISH ACCREDITATION COUNCIL (BAC)

The Metropolitan College has been officially certified by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) as an independent institution that provides higher education. This certification is provided following a rigorous inspection in all areas of activity of the institution.

HELLENIC COLLEGES ASSOCIATION (HCA)

The Metropolitan College is a member of the Hellenic Colleges Association (HCA), which was founded and has been operating since June 1998. The Association’s members are Greek private colleges which offer university courses in collaboration with Universities abroad, aiming to award diplomas or degrees of foreign Universities to Greek students.

THE FORUM ON EDUCATION ABROAD

The Metropolitan College is now a member of “The Forum on Education Abroad”. This is a non-profit organisation, recognised by the US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission as well as the Standards Development Organisation (SDO), focused on the field of education abroad. Institutional members of the Forum include US Colleges and Universities, overseas educational institutions, consortia and organisations.

UK ENIC - NATIONAL RECOGNITION INFORMATION CENTRE

The Metropolitan College offers degrees that are accredited by the British organisation ENIC. Upon completion of their studies, all graduates have the opportunity to also obtain - apart from their degree - accreditation from the British organisation ENIC (National Recognition Information Centre), a body similar to the Hellenic National Recognition and Information Centre (DOATAP).

INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION (IIE)

The Metropolitan College has become a member of the Institute of International Education. The Institute of International Education supports and promotes educational exchange courses for international students, through a broad network of public and private higher education institutions, which amount to more than 1,600 around the world.

SDSN | United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network

The Metropolitan College is a Μember of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN). SDSN promotes practical problem solving for sustainable development, including the design and implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, at local, national, and global scales. As a Member and educational institution that already runs initiatives that support the 17 SDGs, Metropolitan College (MC) shares deep expertise in sustainable development related sciences - such as Health Sciences, Architecture, Human Sciences e.tc. - with other institutions around the world, by participating in Global Discussions, Educational Initiatives and Applied Research.

Advance HE

Metropolitan College was recognized as a member of Advance HE, a member-led charity of and for the sector that works with partners across the globe to improve higher education for staff, students and society. It’s purpose is to help higher education be the best it can be, working to create systems that are inclusive, sustainable and high-performing. Advance HE supports its members, providing a range of research, knowledge, resources and best practices.

UNITED NATIONS WORLD TOURISM ORGANISATION (UNWTO)

The Metropolitan College became the only College in Greece that is a member of the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). The United Nations World Tourism Organisation is a specialised agency of the United Nations for the promotion of responsible and sustainable development of tourism worldwide.

GREEK TOURISM CONFEDERATION (SETE)

The Metropolitan College is a member of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE). SETE was founded in 1991, with its main objective being cooperation among tourism businesses that provide high-quality services. It supports and promotes the overall interests of Greek tourism, both domestically and abroad. At the same time, it undertakes initiatives for the strategic enhancement of the Greek tourist product and, consequently, of the Greek economy.

AMERICAN HOTEL & LODGING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE (AHLEI)

The Metropolitan College is the only Global Academic Partner of AHLEI in Greece. The AHLA association, based in Washington, has been serving the hospitality sector for over 100 years, providing advisory support and educational resources to the hotel industry. It is globally recognised as the leading certification body in the hotel industry, with customers and partners in more than 95 countries.

ELITOUR

Elitour is responsible for promoting Greece abroad as a top health tourism destination. The main purpose of Elitour is the participation and support of the Hellenic Cooperative Formation (Cluster) with the object of developing Health Tourism in Greece and the international promotion of the combination of providing in Greece high quality medical services and wellness services with high quality Tourist Services.

World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA)

The Faculty of Health of Metropolitan College, through the Institute of Occupational Science & Rehabilitation, is a member of the World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA). WRA is a World Health Organization (WHO) global network of stakeholders whose mission is to support the implementation of the Rehabilitation 2030 initiative through advocacy. The objectives of the WRA are to conduct evidence-based advocacy activities that increase the awareness and demand for rehabilitation, and to strengthen networking and knowledge-sharing within the rehabilitation sector. Metropolitan College is the first College in Greece holding a WRA Membership.

EUROPEAN NETWORK OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN HIGHER EDUCATION (ENPHE)

The Metropolitan College is a member of the European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE). It is the only Greek educational institution that is a member of this organisation. ENPHE’s mission is to improve the quality of education, research and public awareness through communication among European education institutions, always in accordance with the requirements of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT). Its members are 183 Physiotherapy schools from 29 European countries.

WORLD FEDERATION OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS (WFOT)

The Metropolitan College has received the official certification of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) for the undergraduate course BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy. It is the only College that possesses this certification, which verifies the course’s high academic level and which is the highest recognition within the scientific community of Occupational Therapists.

EUROPEAN NETWORK OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN HIGHER EDUCATION (ENOTHE)

Since 2014, the Metropolitan College is a full member of the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education (ENOTHE). It is the only Greek educational institution that is a member of this organisation.

INSTITUTE OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE (IBMS)

The Metropolitan College is certified by the English Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). It is the only Faculty of Health Sciences in Greece that has obtained this certification.

EUROPEAN BUSINESS ETHICS NETWORK (EBEN)

The Metropolitan College is a member of the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN) for the university courses offered by the Faculty of Business & Economics. It is the only College in Greece that is a member of EBEN. The European Business Ethics Network is the most active Business Ethics Network in Europe today, and it already has 18 member countries, including Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Spain and France.

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)

Metropolitan College is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The accreditation by the CIPD is the result of the evaluation and approval of Metropolitan College’s study and teaching methods for the provision of the MSc in Human Resource Management.

European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)

The Metropolitan College is a Full Member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) for the university courses offered by the Faculty of Business & Economics. The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is globally recognized as an accreditation body for business schools, business school programmes, and corporate universities and plays a central role in shaping the global approach to management education.

Metropolitan College is a Microsoft partner, leveraging its expertise to enhance the digital and technical skills of its students. Microsoft is a leading technology solutions company worldwide. Its mission is to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.

ORACLE

The Metropolitan College collaborated with Oracle University and became an Oracle University Workforce Development Program Partner in Greece. As a member of the Oracle University Workforce Development Program, the Metropolitan College offers students the opportunity to attend Oracle courses (Java SE 8 Fundamentals and Oracle Database: Introduction to SQL) that lead to Oracle certifications, following relevant examinations.

CISCO

The Metropolitan College has been recognised as an officially certified centre by CISCO, enabling students to obtain the globally recognised certification CCNA during their studies. It is the 1st College to obtain this certification in Greece.

SEPE | FEDERATION OF HELLENIC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATIONS, ENTERPRISES

The Metropolitan College is a member of SEPE, the Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications, Enterprises. As the sector’s representative for the digital technology industry, SEPE promotes the cooperation between the digital technology industry and the educational system in order to coordinate the design of the study curricula according to the market needs. SEPE also promotes the usage of digital technology throughout the Greek Society, while it closely monitors the progress of “digital economy”.

BCS

Metropolitan College has received the BCS Academic Membership. BCS is the leading body for the IT scientists and the IT professionals, counting 75.000 Members in 160 countries. Metropolitan College is the first College in Greece holding a BCS Academic Membership.

EC- COUNCIL ACADEMIA - INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF E-COMMERCE CONSULTANTS

The Metropolitan College is a partner of EC-Council Academia for the provision of high-quality education courses in Cybersecurity. The EC-Council (International Council of E-Commerce Consultants) is the largest certification body in the world for certifications related to the security of information systems, with presence in 145 countries. It has developed internationally recognised training courses and has trained more than 200,000 information security professionals to date, thus shaping developments and trends in the sector. EC-Council certifications are highly recognised in the labour market.

SAP UNIVERSITY ALLIANCES

The Metropolitan College is an Associate Member of the international network SAP University Alliances of the multinational giant SAP - a leader in the market of software for business applications. The network includes more than 1,400 Universities and 1 million students worldwide. It is a globally recognised certification in the field of Computing. The programme provides access to self-learning education courses which correspond to key SAP certification paths (Business Applications, Database & Technology, Analytics and Mobility), as well as the opportunity to register in the library of e-learning courses related to SAP solution areas.

GITHUB EDUCATION

The Metropolitan College is a member of GitHub Education, one of the most common and globally popular e-platforms that support online collaboration of groups for the development of applications. As a member of the GitHub Education platform, the Metropolitan College provides students and professors of the Faculty of Computing with the opportunity to gain access to a range of tools and applications such as JETBRAINS’ IDEs (e.g. PyCharm, IntelliJ Idea etc.), Bootstrap Studio, the Heroku deployment platform, subscriptions for learning HTMS, CSS, JavaScript and Python, Digital Ocean for Cloud Hosting, and much more.

ROYAL INSTITUTE OF BRITISH ARCHITECTS (RIBA)

The Metropolitan College is certified by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA 1 & 2) for its Architecture courses. The Metropolitan College is one of 7 educational institutions in Europe and 1 of 25 educational institutions internationally that offer courses certified by the Royal Institute of British Architects, which ensures the high educational quality of the courses, as well as the professional competence of its graduates. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a UK body for architecture and the architectural profession. Its certification is only granted to educational representatives whose courses meet the RIBA criteria and comply with the internationally recognised standards regarding architectural education.

ARM - APPROVED CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - EFFICIENT EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN

The Metropolitan College is the first ARM Certified CPDE Training Partner in Europe, offered by the ARM University Program. Successful completion of the course leads to certification by ARM, the leading British microprocessors designer, which owns full legal rights of the ARM computer and microcontroller architecture company.

BRITISH PSYCHOLOGICAL SOCIETY (BPS)

The Metropolitan College is certified by the British Psychological Society (BPS) for the undergraduate course BSc (Hons) Psychology. Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Psychology (English) have the right to register directly with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and obtain the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the Society (GBC).

EUROPEAN MENTORING AND COACHING COUNCIL (EMCC)

The Metropolitan College is certified by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) for the postgraduate course MSc Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology, at a Master Practitioner level.

BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY (BACP)

The Metropolitan College is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Therefore, the postgraduate course in Counselling and Psychotherapy has been designed and operates in accordance with the criteria set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that graduates are able to apply individually to register with the association and practice the profession in a safe and ethical manner.

DNV- GL | DET NORSKE VERITAS - GERMANISCHER LLOYD

The Metropolitan College has been certified as a Maritime Training Provider (DNVGL-ST-0029) by DNV GL, the world’s premier DNV Classification Society. It is the only provider of higher education in Greece that has such an outstanding quality certification in maritime studies.

IAMI | INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MARITIME INSTITUTIONS

The Metropolitan College is a full member of the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI) for its courses on Shipping and Maritime Education. IAMI is a reputable group of Maritime Academies which are internationally renowned for maintaining a very high level of teaching and research, as well as for their contribution toward the modernisation and standardisation of training of Merchant Navy officers. The Metropolitan College has been certified for the provision of the internationally recognised course G.U.E.S.T., related to training crew working in yachts, while at the same time, cadet engineers of the Maritime Academy will have to pass IAMI examinations to ultimately obtain their diploma.

MCA | MARITIME & COASTGUARD AGENCY

The Metropolitan College has been certified by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MC), the United Kingdom’s Coast Guard and one of the most powerful port authorities in the world, for the provision of the courses EDH (Efficient Deck Hand) and HELM-O (Human Element Leadership & Management - Operational Level) entirely in Greece, which take place in the purpose-built facilities of the Piraeus Campus. At the same time, the courses for training Merchant Navy and Yacht officers have been approved by MCA for their provision in Greece, while the Certificates of Maritime Competency for students who complete these courses successfully are issued by MCA.

PYA | PROFESSIONAL YACHTING ASSOCIATION

The Metropolitan College is the only PYA certified member in Greece. The Professional Yachting Association is a non-profit association aiming at safeguarding the interests of professional crews in the field of yachting. It participates in international forums and represents the yachting industry at a management level in order to ensure that the views of professionals of the sector are communicated to the regulating authorities.

G.U. E. S.T. | GUIDELINES FOR UNIFIED EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE TRAINING

The Metropolitan College has obtained the only licence in Greece for the provision of specific courses offered by the Metropolitan College’s Superyacht Academy, an expert in yacht education. G.U.E.S.T. Certification is the only internationally recognised certification for crews working on superyachts, and it is regulated by the International Association of Maritime Institutions.

RYA | ROYAL YACHTING ASSOCIATION

The Metropolitan College has been recognised as a training centre by the internationally recognised body RYA and offers its maritime education courses. Royal Yachting Association is the UK’s national competency certification body for amateur and/or professional engagement with all types of vessels.

ICS | INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SHIPBROKERS

The Metropolitan College has received the certification of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) for its Shipping courses. It is the only higher education institution in Greece that possesses this certification. The ICS is a professional and scientific association and its members are leading agents and bodies of the global commercial maritime arena. It is the most recognised and influential professional body in commercial shipping, providing accreditation to internationally coveted expert professionals. Graduates of the academic courses of the Faculty of Shipping and Maritime Studies are entitled to an exemption from a significant part of ICS’s certification examinations, which enables them to obtain membership status much more quickly.

CILT | CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT

The Metropolitan College has been accredited by CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), the most prominent professional association for the supply chain, which supports professionals working in the field of transport and logistics. Following completion of their undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Shipping and Maritime Studies, graduates receive a personal certificate for exemption from the examinations required for obtaining membership status.

BIMCO | BALTIC & INTERNATIONAL MARITIME COUNCIL

The Metropolitan College has become a member of the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) for its courses on Shipping and Maritime Studies. With more than 2,100 members, including shipowners, management firms, brokerage companies, etc., BIMCO has become a benchmark in shipping as the largest international shipping association. At the same time, it is internationally recognised for its transparency, consistency and safety standards that guide all its actions and contracts.

INTERTANKO | INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT TANKER OWNERS

The Metropolitan College is an Associate Member of the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners - INTERTANKO for its courses on Shipping and Maritime Studies. INTERTANKO is committed to safe cargo transport, cleaner seas and the development of free competition.

INTERCARGO | INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DRY CARGO SHIPOWNERS

The Metropolitan College is a Reciprocal Member of INTERCARGO, the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners. INTERCARGO was founded in 1980 in order to give voice to shipowners, managers and operators of dry cargo vessels as well as to better represent this specific shipping sector, and at the same time to ensure and promote safe, effective, efficient and environmentally-friendly shipping.

IMAREST | INSTITUTE OF MARINE ENGINEERING, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The Metropolitan College is a Marine Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). IMarEST is the most reputable, influential and inclusive international association of scientists and professionals working in the fields of marine engineering, science and technology. With more than 21,000 members across 128 countries, IMarEST is a member of the UK’s prestigious Science Council. Students of the Metropolitan College have the opportunity to attend IMarEST’s seminars and have access to online material and frequent webinars on various topics conducted by the institute.

HELMEPA | HELLENIC MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION ASSOCIATION

The Metropolitan College is a corporate member of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA). HELMPEPA is the pioneering commitment of Greek marine crew and shipowners to protect seas from vessel pollution.

THE NAUTICAL INSTITUTE

The Nautical Institute is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Its aim is to promote professionalism, best practice and safety throughout the maritime industry, while its vision is to provide inspiration, knowledge and leadership to maritime professionals around the world.
