CLINICAL COLLABORATIONS

STATEMENTS BY REPRESENTATIVES OF CLINICAL SETTINGS

Anastasia Kokkali

Clinical Dietitian-Nutritionist

“The Thessaloniki Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre “Anagennisi” collaborates with the Metropolitan College in Thessaloniki, and more specifically with students of the Dietetics Department, for their clinical training. The cooperation is harmonious and communication with those in charge is excellent. During the internships, a friendly environment is cultivated with the students, who leave their internships pleased and satisfied since they have gained ample knowledge on proper communication with patients. At the same time, since our centre employs a range of specialities (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists), students have the opportunity to witness a wide range of clinical cases and their respective nutritional handling.”

Thalia Zolota

Speech and Language Therapist

“I consider myself fortunate to be able to train Metropolitan College students in a place like “ANAPLASI”, where we can impart our knowledge and developments in Speech and Language Therapy, so that they can become worthy successors of this science. We work as a team and students have observed many cases and all the latest scientific developments. At the same time, we also gain a lot from the students of the Metropolitan College. We hope that the Speech and Language Therapy Department of the Metropolitan College will create many more worthy and capable colleagues who will later continue their studies at a postgraduate level and will hopefully teach our science to younger generations.”

Lamprini Vasilaki

Director-General of APOKATASTASI S.A.

“We would like to express our satisfaction with our cooperation with the personnel responsible for the implementation of the Metropolitan College Internships, as well as with your students who perform their clinical training at our Centre. We believe that your students have the appropriate theoretical background to meet the needs of the tasks assigned to them. Internships help to improve knowledge, exchange know-how and best practices, and to find work in the future. At APOKATASTASI S.A. students learn to collaborate, to work as a team and gain experiences from an organised and specialised environment in the field of recovery and rehabilitation.”

Parthena Giannoulaki

Clinical Dietitian-Nutritionist

“In the context of the practical and clinical training of Metropolitan College students in the Dietetics-Nutrition Department of the AHEPA University General Hospital of Thessaloniki, students have the opportunity to learn about the profession of clinical dietitians through observation of daily clinical practice and to come into contact with a wide and different range of clinical cases which will help them witness in practice proper communication and the nutritional handling of various diseases. Furthermore, they are in a position to see the operation of a meal production unit as well as the supply and distribution of food in clinics, which we deem important for the students’ future as professional dieticians.”

Aggeliki Kakaniari

Director of Human Resources at VIOIATRIKI

“The VIOIATRIKI Group of Health Companies has maintained a long and fruitful collaboration with the educational Group AKMI. Since 2012, the Group has welcomed a significant number of students either for internships or to provide them with information and give them a tour of our modern and fully equipped laboratories. At the same time, talks and lectures have been given to the students by the Group’s expert executives and experienced scientific personnel. The collaboration also includes the Group’s successful participation in the College’s Career Days, where our executives come in contact with the College’s graduands in exploration of their absorption into the labour market. A common finding in all our dealings has been the high-quality training and education that students receive.”

Nikitas Kanakis

President of Doctors of the World

“In the difficult times we live in, the collaboration of those who can offer is not only self-evident, but imperative as well. Therefore, we are very happy about this collaboration. When a large Humanitarian Organisation – well-established in the consciousness of Greek society – crosses paths with a highly-reputed College with significant contribution to private education, the result can only be a starting point for important solidarity actions as well as a learning challenge for your students. It is not only our pleasure to work with young students eager to learn and offer, but our obligation as well so that apart from the solid training students will receive from your College, tomorrow’s nurses can also possess the sensitivity required.”

Maria Athanasiadou

Occupational Therapist

“Only positive experiences emerged from the clinical training performed by Metropolitan College students in the Occupational Therapy Department of the Kalamaria Open Care Centre for the Elderly (KAPI). There has been mutual benefit in the two years of our collaboration. KAPI members embraced the young students with love, kindness and respect. There was not even the slightest tension or dysfunction. On the contrary, feelings were developed that remained even after the end of the clinical training. I believe that it was a positive experience for the students as well, thanks to which they have acquired foundations as future professionals in terms of how to deal with healthy elderly individuals in open care institutions.”

Marina Stathokosta

Occupational Therapist, Deputy Coordinator of Therapeutic Programme, Filoktitis

“Since 2012, the ‘Filoktitis’ Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre has been accepting students for their clinical training in collaboration with the Metropolitan College. In this context, students have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to inpatients and outpatients who suffer from Neurological, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Cardiological diseases, as well as to patients hospitalised in Increased Care Units. Students practice their professional skills under the guidance and supervision of experienced clinical instructors in an interdisciplinary environment, with the main objective being maximisation of learning, which is achieved through excellent collaboration with the College’s respective departments as well as through the students’ eagerness to learn.”
