METROPOLITAN COLLEGE

International Recognition: Metropolitan College as a model of Educational Excellence in the British Council Study

The new international study by the British Council, titled “UK Transnational Education in the EU: Models, Insights and Strategic Choices”, positions Metropolitan College at the forefront of transnational education (TNE) in Europe. Its selection as the case study in the report follows previous distinctions and highlights Metropolitan College as a benchmark for the quality and reliability of British higher education in Southeastern Europe.

Today, Metropolitan College represents the leading ecosystem for British transnational education in Greece and is the largest provider in Europe. The total student body across all partnerships and programs is projected to reach approximately 13,500 this year, confirming its leadership position. This success is based on the development of multiple simultaneous and continuously evolving collaborations with four distinguished British universities.

University of East London: Innovation, Social Mobility, and Employability

The partnership with the University of East London (UEL) is analyzed in the report as an exemplary model linking academic knowledge with the contemporary needs of the global economy. This collaboration constitutes the largest structured transnational university activity in Europe. According to the report, graduate employment absorption exceeds 90% within six months, while student satisfaction levels remain consistently above 85%.

Queen Margaret University: Academic Specialization, Research, and Commitment to Sustainability

The collaboration with Queen Margaret University (QMU) is presented as an ideal example of transferring specialized knowledge and research culture. The British Council highlights its success in integrating cutting-edge programs in the fields of Health, Rehabilitation, and Humanities. This partnership also underscores its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting both scientific advancement and social well-being.

Model of Development and Quality Assurance

The College’s network comprises nine physical campuses and a Digital Campus. The pioneering multi-campus development model is supported by a rigorous quality assurance system that guarantees academic parity across campuses, ensuring consistently high-quality education at every location.
Particular significance is attached to the adaptation of British programs into the Greek language—a practice that has already been recognized by the QAA in a recent case study. These initiatives have expanded access for Greek students to British education within local communities across the country, enhancing the College’s societal impact.

Commenting on this international recognition, the CEO of Metropolitan College and Alphabet Education, Dr. Christina Paraskevopoulou, stated:
This new international sectoral study confirms our position on the global map of transnational education. The continued trust of our student community, combined with the successful management of the largest portfolio of British higher education programs, consolidates our leadership in the European higher education landscape.”
