8 out of 10 of Metropolitan College graduates are currently employed
At a time when attracting and retaining skilled talent remains one of the most significant challenges facing the Greek and European business landscape, the findings of the new institutional employment survey conducted for Metropolitan College by MRB Hellas confirm the College’s leading role in bridging higher education with the labour market.
According to the findings of the survey among recent graduates (2023–2025), the employment rate of Metropolitan College graduates stands at 81%. This figure becomes particularly significant when compared with official Eurostat data, according to which the national average employment rate for recent higher education graduates in Greece stands at 67%. This positive difference of 14 percentage points highlights the strong added value and competitiveness of Metropolitan College’s educational model.
Key Findings of the Research:
- Strong Alignment with Field of Study: 79% of employed graduates report that their current position or main professional responsibilities are directly aligned with the academic field they studied at Metropolitan College, significantly reducing the incidence of graduate underemployment.
- Rapid Transition into the Labour Market (Time-to-Market):Graduate absorption into employment is exceptionally strong, with 71% securing a job within the first six months after completing their studies. This confirms Metropolitan College’s ability to equip students with the knowledge, skills and competencies required by employers and to support their smooth transition into professional life.
- Quality and Sustainable Employment: 86% of employed graduates work in full-time positions, demonstrating that employers recognise the value of their qualifications and invest in their long-term professional development.
- Graduate Satisfaction Indicators: Nearly 8 in 10 employed graduates (77%) express satisfaction with the nature of their work, a result directly linked to effective academic preparation and the development of both hard and soft skills.
Graduate Earnings and Career Progression
The survey also highlights the strong earning potential of Metropolitan College graduates, with 1 in 4 graduates already earning more than €1,300 in net monthly income. This figure is 25% higher than the average earnings of young employees aged 20–34 who completed higher education studies within the last three years, according to data published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
The initiatives and actions implemented by Metropolitan College in the field of graduate employability are fully aligned with the philosophy and rigorous academic standards of its partner UK public universities. In the United Kingdom, graduate employability has long been recognised as a key indicator in the evaluation of higher education institutions, contributing significantly to their reputation, international standing and performance in global university rankings. By embracing this approach, Metropolitan College brings to Greece internationally recognised best practices that support students in developing the knowledge, skills and experience required for successful careers in a global environment.
Dr Christina Paraskevopoulou, CEO of Alphabet Education Group, which includes Metropolitan College, stated:
“The findings of the MRB research validate our strategic decision to invest in internationally oriented academic programmes that respond to the real needs of the labour market. In a constantly evolving economic environment, the high employment rate of our graduates, exceeding 80%, represents a strong assurance for our students that their investment in education translates into successful career opportunities, while also reflecting the confidence that employers place in our graduates.”
