Metropolitan College ranked in the Times Higher Education Impact Ratings 2026 for the fourth consecutive year

Metropolitan College achieved its strongest performance in SDG 10, where it was placed in the Global Ranking Band 301–400 worldwide.

Metropolitan College has been recognised for the fourth consecutive year in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ratings 2026, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to sustainable development, social progress, innovation and higher education with measurable impact. This year’s rankings include 1,646 universities from 116 countries, making them one of the world’s most comprehensive assessments of higher education institutions’ contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The THE Impact Ratings evaluate universities worldwide based on their performance against the SDGs, recognising institutions that demonstrate meaningful social, educational, research and environmental impact through their policies, practices and engagement with society. As one of the largest University Hubs in Southeast Europe and the largest provider of British higher education in Europe by student population, Metropolitan College combines an international academic environment with state-of-the-art educational facilities, innovation, social responsibility and a strong commitment to creating value for students, employers and society.

The THE Impact Ratings evaluate universities worldwide based on their performance against the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 2026 rankings highlight Metropolitan College’s strong performance across several key Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the following areas:

SDG 4 – Quality Education: Global Ranking Band 601–800
SDG 5 – Gender Equality: Global Ranking Band 601–800

Significant progress across two SDGs in the Times Higher Education Impact Ratings 2026

Metropolitan College improved its performance in SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, advancing from the Global Ranking Band 401–600 to 301–400 in the Times Higher Education Impact Ratings 2026. This achievement reinforces the College’s commitment to inclusion, widening participation in higher education and reducing inequalities through accessible, high-quality education and meaningful social impact.

SDG 9: Significant Improvement in Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Metropolitan College also recorded a significant improvement in SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, advancing from the Global Ranking Band 801–1000 to 601–800 in the Times Higher Education Impact Ratings 2026. This progress reflects the College’s continued investment in innovation, modern educational infrastructure, practice-based learning and its commitment to connecting academic knowledge with the evolving needs of industry and society.
