The Faculty of Health Sciences and, in particular, the School of Occupational Therapy of Metropolitan College received the famous American Occupational Therapist and author Patricia Oetter (MA, OTR / L, FAOTA), who delivered a memorable seminar entitled ‘The Trilogy: Sucking-Swallowing-Breathing – Got it, Get it, Keep it: Major influences on Development, Learning and Behaviour’. The seminar was held in the main Auditorium of Metropolitan College, Maroussi Campus.
The seminar addressed the correlation in the synchronization between sucking / swallowing / breathing and behavior, learning, attitude development, feeding, communication, alertness, self-regulation, psychosocial development and common health problems in children. It, furthermore, focused on the correlation of this information with sensory disorders in processing and integration.
