Supporting initiatives related to raising awareness and improving the quality of life and services for individuals with chronic illnesses, Metropolitan College proudly hosted three recent events, organized by the Greek Carers Network “Epioni”, in the Athens (Downtown) Campus Auditorium.
More specifically, Metropolitan College hosted the educational seminar event “Caregivers and Depression“ held under the auspices of the Attica Region, the Hellenic Psychiatric Association and the Hellenic Brain Council, in collaboration with several mental health institutions. The event featured presentations by highly esteemed speakers on topics related to depression, its pharmacological treatment, and comorbidity with other disorders such as ADHD.
The following day, in celebration of the European Carers’ Day 2023, a successful event was held, themed as: “The balance between personal, professional life and care for informal carers “. This was followed by another event that took place in hybrid form, in the context of World Mental Health Day. In light of this year’s theme, “Mental Health is a Global Human Right“, the programme of the event included speeches from distinguished figures from Greece and abroad on topics such as:
- Neglect of the social, accomodational, occupational, and medical care for people with chronic ailments or disabilities
- The role of stigma
- The contribution of caregivers
