Metropolitan College, in the context of the ongoing expansion of its portfolio, offers for the first time in Greece two new university level programmes of study in collaboration with the world-renowned British Warsash Maritime Academy, part of Southampton Solent University’s Warsash School of Maritime Science and Engineering.
Warsash Maritime Academy has provided first class education, training, consultancy and research services to the international shipping, commercial yacht, and offshore oil and gas industries for over 70 years.
The two new programmes of study are the following:
• BSc (Hons) Marine Operations Management (falls under the School of Merchant Navy Captains)
• BEng (Hons) Marine Engineering & Management (falls under the School of Merchant Navy Engineers)
The curriculum includes paid internships at the leading shipping companies in Greece with which Metropolitan College collaborates. In the process of obtaining the degree, students will obtain a Certificate of Competence issued directly by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, UK -MCA- and recognized by hundreds of maritime authorities around the world, including Greece.
Upon completion of their studies, graduates obtain an internationally recognized Bachelor’s degree from the distinguished British University of Southampton Solent, having studied in Greece. The world recognition of the Warsash Maritime Academy gives graduates an important advantage in pursuing a home or international career.
As Professor Dinos Arcoumanis, Chairman of Metropolitan College Academic Board, mentioned: “The position of Greece as the leading force in the shipping industry has necessitated the establishment in our country of a world-renowned Maritime Academy, such as Warsash Maritime Academy. In addition to public Academies, the Warsash Maritime Academy, with the collaboration of Metropolitan College, is filling a big gap, which we are sure will be best met through this important initiative.”
With the launch of the two new programmes, Metropolitan College presents the most complete Maritime School in Greece, which, in addition to the above, offers recognized Bachelors and Masters in Maritime Business and Shipping and Port Management, in collaboration with Southampton Solent University.
